Because of a bug, some customers received a double validity period

Recently we discovered a bug in the payment registration system and identified cases in which some customers received a double or triple validity period compared to what they paid for.

The bug was caused by duplicate IPN (Instant Payment Notification) confirmations of a payment: each time one arrived, the system added the paid validity period to the account again. This happened when a payment was confirmed two or more times. We even identified cases in which customers received an additional 3 years of validity, or in which the validity period was multiplied by four. In total, the several customers affected by the bug received approximately 18 years of validity, free of charge. The bug has now been fixed.

We therefore had to choose between recalculating the validity period of the affected customers, subtracting the period they received because of the bug, or absorbing the difference ourselves and leaving the additional validity period as it is.

We have chosen not to recalculate the validity period of the affected accounts, and to leave the validity period as it was registered in the accounts of the customers who received additional time.
